Before you spend all day mopping your floors with soapy water only to track back over them before they re dry add a little glass cleaner or vinegar to your bucket of water. Rinse the mop with warm water and then go over. Dust mop your travertine tile floors to remove any abrasive debris. Steam clean the floor in manageable 2 to 3 foot sections working from the farthest part of the room toward the exit to eye when streaks occur.

Mop systematically in a repeat formula. Travertine should only get damp never fully wet. Once you ve vacuumed the area the best way to ensure a high shine finish is to mop a small section and then buff that section with a soft clean dry cloth before the cleaning has a chance to dry. Dunk a mop sponge or sponge mop into the solution wring it dry and then run the mop over your floors.

A foolproof way of ensuring streak free floor is to tackle one section at a time. It will promote faster drying and leave your floors ready to walk on sooner than if you had used soap and water alone. At the end of the day avoiding streaks on a floor comes down to your ability to smoothly and evenly mop the floor. Dip the mop into the water and wring it thoroughly.

Run the mop back and forth going with the grain of the wood in smooth strokes. Spray the homemade cleaner directly on your floor and use a mop to scrub it. 4 replace the mop pads frequently to ensure that. Dirt and grime should come up easily and you will not see any streaks.
